Franchise FAQ

Every question below is one we hear from people considering a DryMark territory. We answer them the same way we document a job: plainly, with the specifics that matter, and nothing that would surprise you later. If your question isn’t here, call (629) 213-4606.

Common Questions

Do I need restoration experience to open a DryMark location?

No. You need to be able to run a disciplined operation, manage people, and follow a written standard without cutting corners. Most of our owners come from outside the trades: former claims professionals, project managers, military officers, and small-business operators. The technical side, drying science, psychrometrics, equipment protocols, and documentation standards, is taught during training and reinforced with ongoing support.

What is the total investment range?

Plan for a total initial investment in the range of $150,000 to $400,000 depending on your market, real estate costs, and the equipment package you start with. That range covers the franchise fee, professional-grade drying systems from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry, initial vehicles, insurance, and working capital for the first months. We provide an itemized breakdown in your Franchise Disclosure Document before you commit to anything.

Is financing available?

We do not provide franchise financing ourselves, which keeps the relationship clean. We work with several lenders who understand restoration and the recurring revenue structure of insurance-paid work, and we will introduce you to them. SBA lending is also common for qualified candidates, and our team will help you assemble the documentation package lenders expect to see.

Do I get exclusive territory?

Yes. Every owner receives a defined, protected territory with exclusive rights to operate the DryMark brand within those boundaries. Territory size depends on population density and the number of housing units, not arbitrary zip code math. You will know exactly which neighborhoods are yours before you sign, and no other DryMark owner can market or work in your area.

How long is initial training?

Initial training runs two weeks at our training facility plus one week of field training in an operating territory. Week one covers restoration science, equipment operation, and documentation standards. Week two covers estimating, job scoping, insurance workflows, and the operational side of the business. The field week puts you on active jobs with an experienced team so you see how a documented job actually runs from first call to final invoice.

What are the ongoing fees and royalties?

There is a royalty fee based on a percentage of gross revenue and a brand fund contribution used for national marketing and technology. The specific percentages are disclosed in Item 6 of the FDD and they do not change based on your volume. We don’t play games with fee structures, and there are no mandatory upsells on software, equipment, or supplies. You buy what you need, and the royalties pay for what they’re supposed to pay for.

How long does it take from signing to opening?

Most owners open their doors three to five months after signing, assuming real estate and permits cooperate. The sequence is: territory selection and signing, then training while your location is being built out, then equipment installation, then a soft launch with support from our launch team. We don’t rush the timeline, and we don’t pad it either. You’ll know exactly what has to happen in what order.

What kind of support do I get after I open?

Ongoing support covers the areas where restoration businesses typically fail: job documentation, insurance claim workflows, equipment maintenance, and hiring. You get access to our documentation system, which produces the daily moisture logs and photo records that turn restoration invoices into payable claims. You also get regular operational reviews, a peer network of owners, and a support line answered by a person who knows your territory.

What does an ideal candidate look like?

Someone who is organized, accountable, and comfortable with the idea that the work product is documentation as much as it is drying. You don’t need to be the most charismatic person in the room. You need to be the person who writes the price down before work starts, shows up on schedule, and produces the evidence when the job is done. If that sounds like a standard you’d hold yourself to without being watched, we should talk.

What is the next step?

Call (629) 213-4606 and ask for our franchise development team. We’ll send you a short qualification form, then schedule a conversation. If there’s a fit, you’ll receive the Franchise Disclosure Document, and from there we’ll introduce you to current owners so you can hear it from them, not just from us.
