"Every job I take on, I treat it like it's my own home."

How DryMark Restoration Was Born

DryMark started in 2011, but the idea showed up a few years earlier, in a cramped claims office where I sat across from homeowners who had done everything right and still lost. I watched an adjuster deny a water claim not because the damage wasn’t real, but because the paperwork couldn’t prove it. The restoration company had written “dried to industry standard” on the invoice and left. No readings. No dates. No room-by-room record. Just a sentence and a bill. The homeowner had a ruined kitchen and a denial letter, and the restoration company had already been paid.

That moment stuck with me longer than it should have. I kept seeing the same pattern: contractors who worked hard but documented nothing, and families who paid twice because the first job couldn’t be verified. When I finally started DryMark, the promise was simple and specific: every job would leave behind evidence. Daily moisture readings, signed and dated, room by room. A written price before we started and a documented record when we left. That commitment started in one city and has since grown into locations across the country, but the founding idea has never changed. Dry is a measurable condition, and getting back to it is the entire job.

Alicia Brennan’s Personal Connection to the Damage Restoration Trade

My path into this trade began in a basement that smelled like wet wool and mildew. A pipe had let go behind a finished wall, and by the time anyone noticed, the drywall was soft to the touch and the baseboards had begun to curl. The first contractor who came out quoted a number without opening the wall. The second opened the wall, found rot the first guy never looked for, and then explained, patiently, what moisture does when it sits. He showed me his moisture meter, pointed to the numbers, and told me what each one meant. That was the first time I understood that restoration isn’t guesswork. It’s measurement, repeated over days, until the building tells you it’s done.

I didn’t grow up in this trade. I came to it from the paperwork side, from years of reading restoration invoices and claim files, and I noticed something obvious that most people missed: the difference between a job that gets paid and a job that gets fought was almost never the quality of the actual drying. It was the record of the drying. A company that wrote down readings every day didn’t have claims denied. A company that wrote “dried to standard” did. That observation became the spine of my career. More than a decade later, I still think about that first basement when I’m reviewing a job file. What keeps me in this work is the same thing that pulled me into it: the moment a homeowner realizes that someone is showing them the truth about their own house, in numbers they can read, on paper they can keep.

If I weren’t doing this, I’d probably be teaching. Not in a classroom, but somewhere practical, the way that technician taught me. Showing people how to read a meter, how to understand what a reading means, how to tell a thorough job from a rushed one. That instinct never left. It’s just that now, instead of teaching one person at a time, we build it into how every location operates.

Meet Alicia Brennan - The Person Behind Every Job

Alicia Brennan is the Owner & Founder of DryMark Restoration. She came to the trade through the claims side of the industry, where she spent years reviewing restoration invoices, drying logs, and the disputes that followed them. That background shaped her approach: she built DryMark around the documentation standards she wished every contractor had met, not around a marketing pitch. Her work is informed by the IICRC standards for water damage restoration, and the company requires every pro working under its name to hold the license and insurance their state requires.

What sets Alicia apart from a corporate franchise technician is that she reads the job files. She looks at drying logs the way an adjuster would, because that’s the training she carries. Outside the business, she keeps a small vegetable garden that she treats with the same discipline as a drying job: daily notes, soil readings, and a written record of what worked and what didn’t. It’s a small habit, but it says something true about her. She doesn’t trust memory when a measurement will do.

That is the commitment she brings to every homeowner: if we did the work, we can prove it. And if we can’t prove it, it isn’t finished.

Our Promise to Homeowners

Every DryMark location operates under the Haven Standard, a five-part code that governs how we price, schedule, staff, document, and communicate. The first clause is the one that matters most to people who’ve been burned before: Have it in writing. Flat price, written scope, written warranty, before anyone starts. That means a homeowner sees the full cost before we begin, not after we’ve opened the wall.

The rest of the Standard is just as specific. Arrive on schedule means a real window, a named technician, and a text when they’re on the way. Verified crews means every pro is licensed, insured, and background-checked for the state where they work. Evidence on every job means photos and readings of what we actually found, not a summary of what we think happened. And No surprises means no door upsell, no scope creep, no “while we’re in here” add-ons that weren’t in the written scope. Each clause exists because we saw a specific failure in the trade and wrote a rule to prevent it.

Our Credentials

Our Credentials
  • State-licensed: every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. We list the license number on the page so you can verify it before we arrive.
  • Insured & bonded: coverage is a requirement for every location, and we can provide proof when you ask.
  • IICRC-informed standards: our drying protocols are built around IICRC guidelines, and our documentation reflects that training.
  • Years of experience: DryMark was founded in 2011, and the team has been refining its documentation system since the first drying log.
  • Strong local reputation: our locations carry the reviews their neighbors leave, and we read them, including the three-star ones.

Here’s why each of those matters to a homeowner. A license means the person in your home is accountable to a state board, not just to a boss. Insurance means a mistake doesn’t become your problem. Experience means we’ve seen the weird jobs, the hidden rot, the drywall that looked fine but wasn’t. And a reputation you can read means you don’t have to take our word for any of it.

Rooted in the Communities We Serve

DryMark is not a single shop pretending to be from everywhere. The company was founded in 2011 and has grown since then into a network of independently owned and operated locations serving major metros, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Houston, Queens, Phoenix, Manhattan, San Antonio, San Diego, The Bronx, and Dallas. Each location is a local business with local licenses, local trucks, and neighbors who know them. What Haven contributes is the standard they agree to work to, the documentation system that proves it, and the buying power that keeps their prices honest.

When you call (629) 213-4606, you reach a live coordinator who connects you with the location that covers your address. That keeps things simple: one number, a national standard, and a local team who knows your market and your building codes.
